Holla is a video-first stranger chat app, and its own site plus two independent reviews describe a coin economy running underneath the free tier: coins buy a gender filter, a region filter, and the ability to keep a conversation going once it reaches its natural stopping point. This site runs no such economy. No camera, no coins, no filter to buy — text or voice, free, every time.
No camera anywhere on this site, in text or in voice. Adults 18 and over only. If Holla's video-first matching and its coin economy are what brought you here, its own site runs both; this tab runs neither.
This is a video-first stranger chat app built around instant one-to-one pairing rather than public rooms. Its own site, holla.world, which we opened directly on 15 September 2026, describes "Instant 1-on-1 Video Chat" with strangers "face-to-face in seconds," a community spanning "190+ countries," and controls to skip, reconnect, or end a session at any point. The product positions itself as an alternative to Omegle, the video roulette site that shut down.
The Play Store listing behind the top India result carries the full title "Hay - HOLLA live video chat" under the package com.exutech.chacha, and a second, differently localised Play Store page lists the same package under the shorter title "HOLLA - Video Call." One product, two names on the same listing, not two apps. A fourth result in that same search, dictionary.com's entry for the plain English word holla, is unrelated to any of it: dictionary sites define the word as an informal interjection, roughly an old shout to get attention or a casual greeting, and it ranks here only because the spelling predates the brand.
Holla's own site calls the base product "completely free for basic live video chat," and that much checks out: opening the app and getting a first match costs nothing. What the official site does not spell out, and two independent reviews do, is a coin system sitting under that free layer. Per a review at pinkchat.app read on 15 September 2026, coins are bought with real money, earned through daily check-ins, or earned by inviting contacts, and they are what a gender filter, a region filter, starting a chat with a specific person, and re-matching someone you already talked to all cost. Choosing "All" for gender is the one free option; naming a specific one spends coins.
A second review, at airdroid.com, describes the same mechanic from a different angle: coins buy a "gift" needed to open a text or voice chat with someone in the Discover tab, on top of the filter costs above. Both reviews agree on the shape of the system even though neither is Holla's own text, so every coin claim on this page traces to one of the two rather than to the app's own copy, which never once uses that word.
This is the specific question we set out to answer: does the app cut a call off, or does it just make continuing cost something? The pinkchat.app review states plainly that conversations there "can end suddenly or require coins to continue," and lists extending a conversation as one of the actions coins pay for, alongside re-matching. That is a sourced claim, and it fits the shape of the rest of the coin system: nothing past the first minute is guaranteed free.
What we could not verify, from either review or from holla.world itself, is an exact number. No source states a fixed call length in minutes or seconds before a payment prompt appears, so we are not going to invent one. Read any specific figure you see elsewhere for this as unconfirmed until Holla states it directly.
The honest version is narrower than a countdown timer: Holla's paid layer gates the extension of a conversation past some unpublished point, and the workaround for a heavy user is not per-action coins but the HOLLA Plus subscription. A review at airdroid.com prices that tier at $6.99 for 7 days or $14.99 for a month, covering unlimited matches, gender and location filters, and ad removal, which turns the coin question into a flat monthly one instead of a per-call one.
Laid out side by side, the trade is easier to see than in prose.
| Spend | What it buys on Holla | Here |
|---|---|---|
| Gender filter | Narrows matches to one stated gender; "All" is the free option | Not offered. Every match is unsorted |
| Region filter | Narrows matches to a chosen country, priced by demand per pinkchat.app | Not offered. No location is ever asked for |
| Starting a specific chat | A "gift" that opens a text or voice chat with one person in Discover | Not applicable. Pairing is random and immediate |
| Extending a conversation | Keeps a chat running past its default stopping point | Not applicable. Nothing here runs out mid-chat |
| Re-matching | Reconnecting with someone from a past chat | Not applicable. No history exists to reconnect to |
| HOLLA Plus | $6.99 for 7 days or $14.99 a month, per airdroid.com | No subscription exists, at any price |
Holla column sourced to holla.world and two third-party reviews, pinkchat.app and airdroid.com, all read on 15 September 2026. Rows citing a review are that review's account, not something we tested inside the app ourselves.
Its whole pitch is the camera: video first, seconds to a face, HD quality by its own description. If that is what brought you here, this tab will not deliver it. There is no camera on talk2strangers, in text mode or in voice mode, at any point, for anyone. Voice here is a live spoken call with no image attached to it, ever.
That is a real trade, not a downgrade dressed up as one. A face is available the instant a match lands, and a face is also exactly the kind of thing a review flags as a risk: the airdroid.com review we read names weak age checks and no way to disable the camera or microphone among its listed concerns.
That same review also notes the app was removed from the Apple App Store in 2019, after a Washington Post investigation logged more than 1,500 complaints about unwanted sexual advances, some involving minors. None of that makes it a fringe product — it is a mainstream app with a large, ordinary user base and a corporate owner, and the review still recommends supervision over avoidance rather than staying away. It does mean a camera carries its own cost, separate from the coin one above.
No coin to check first, no filter to skip past, because neither exists.
Paying for who you meet has a free cousin in AntiLand's purpose-labelled rooms, and Minichat's paid rear-camera upgrade sits behind a search page that never shows its own homepage.
The same paid-versus-free question shows up on a text-and-video roulette too: how a paid filter on Chatspin trades speed for choice reads the trade without a coin attached to it, and why a camera-first roulette lives and dies by its skip button looks at a video-first competitor that charges nothing at all.
If a nickname-only entrance is the part that actually brought you here, the short list of what "anonymous" actually means on this site spells out exactly what is and is not asked for, and how a voice-only pairing works without any video attached covers the audio side it also offers, minus the camera.
For a wider view of the category this sits in, the directory of sites that share this space is worth a look before settling on any single name.
The wider set of chat apps and their costs is on the chat app comparison.

Checked directly for this comparison: Holla's own site for its feature claims, country count and free-tier wording, its Play Store listing for the package name and the "Hay" title it carries, a third party review of its coin system for what coins unlock and how conversations can be cut short, a second independent review for HOLLA Plus pricing and its 2019 App Store history, and a dictionary entry for the plain word holla for the meaning that shares the term but not the product. Direct access to dictionary.com was blocked for us on the day of writing; its definition here is corroborated across several other dictionary sites rather than read on that page itself.
